The Lord is truly Risen! Let us rejoice and be glad! Alleluia! Alleluia!
On Easter Sundaywe came together to celebrate once again to the amazing story of God’s endless love! We sing our Gloria, we fill our sanctuary with signs of new life! Our holy water fonts are filled with Easter water. For the coming Great 50 Days of the Easter season we will listen to the wonderful gospel stories that proclaim the great mystery of our faith, namely that through the death and Resurrection of the Lord Jesus we have been redeemed and share in the gift of eternal life.
In the second gospel for Easter Sunday (the gospel of the two disciples on the road to Emmaus) the two disciples of Jesus come to recognize him in the breaking of the bread. In the breaking of the bread their eyes are open and they come to see the presence of the RisenLord in their midst. Filled with the experience of the Risen Lord they return to Jerusalem filled with Easter joy to share with the other discipes their experience of the Risen Lord and how thay came to recognize the Risen Lord in the breaking of the bread.
Every time we gather together to celebrate the gift of Eucharist we celebrate the gift of the Risen Lord in our midst! We proclaim our belief in the gift of eternal life and our belief in God’s never ending love for all humanity and creation. Like the disciples on the road to Emmaus we are called to have our hearts set on fire within us every time we celebrate the Eucharist for it is truly the celebration of the Risen Lord Jesus in our midst!
It is not simply enough to celebrate the presence of the Risen Lord in the Eucharistic celebration. The Eucharistic celebration must be carried forth in our lives each day wherever we might find ourselves. Our life is meant to be a sign of the Risen Lord Jesus as we minister to one another and care for those who are in need. We are called to minister to one another and care for all those who are in need. We are called to witness tot he RisenLord by the life that we live! At the end of every Eucharistic celebration we are sent forth to proclaim the glory of the Risen Lord by our lives!
